Edison Arantes do Nascimento who is known by his nickname Pelé is a retired Brazilian soccer player and is known as one of the greatest soccer players of our times, scoring 1281 goals throughout his career, he is the top scorer of all times.

Pelé was born in 1940 and volunteered in supporting social conditions of the poor, he dedicated his 1,000 goal to poor kids and is looked up upon some as a role model, he is also referred to as "The King Pelé"

A Jewish friend of mine and long time fan of Pelé said his nickname means "miracle" in the Hebrew language.
Since he retired he is still very involved in soccer and very admired.
